and Tissue Transplant
Organisation (NOTTO),
Regional Organ and
Tissue Transplant
Organisations (ROTTO),
and State Organ and
Tissue Transplant
Organisations (SOTTO),
aid in coordination
and networking for
the procurement and
distribution of the
organs in the safest
and shortest possible
time. With the aim of
making organ donation
easy, NOTTO also allows
citizens to pledge their
organs on their website,
without much hassle.
Along with the
above institutional
mechanisms to
fasten the process of
organ transplant, the
Union Government
has also embraced
an innovative idea to
ensure fast transport
of donated organs
within the country. In
2014, the Government
introduced the concept
of 'Green Corridors',
which is a demarcated,
cleared out special road
route created for an
ambulance that enables
retrieved organs meant
for transplant to reach
