The Daughters who Conquered the Oceans
When courage meets the sea, stories of greatness are written on
the waves. The return of Lieutenant Commander Dilna K. and Lieutenant
Commander Roopa A. to Indian shores after completing the Navika
Sagar Parikrama II was one such proud moment for the nation. The
Naval duo became the first from India to circumnavigate the globe in
double-handed mode, sailing only with the power of wind and sails.
Their journey was not just about adventure; it was about courage,
determination and the spirit of Nari Shakti.
Navika Sagar Parikrama II: Sailing Beyond Limits
The second edition of Navika Sagar Parikrama saw Lt. Cdr. Dilna
K. and Lt. Cdr. Roopa A. travel more than 25,000 nautical miles over a
period of eight months (October 2, 2024- May 29, 2025) on the sailing
vessel INSV Tarini. They set sail from India and made stops at Fremantle
(Australia), Lyttelton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Falkland Islands) and
Cape Town (South Africa) before returning home. In the process, they
sailed across three oceans and three Great Capes, facing some of the
