Celebrating India’s Green Guardians

Environmental protection is often imagined as the work of
large institutions and grand campaigns. Yet, as highlighted in
‘Mann ki Baat’, meaningful change frequently begins with one
committed individual. The inspiring efforts of Benoy Das in the
field of tree plantation beautifully reflect this spirit.

“I have been doing tree plantation since 2010. Then we formed
an organisation in 2019. We have 140 members. We get involved in
doing tree plantation daily. We have created 5 forests. Our aim is
to set small forests in Cooch behar. We have

planted around 14 thousand trees so far. We
have introduced Bengal's first tree ambulance
in 2024. We do tree plantation for 4 months
and we take care of it another 8 months. It is
a great achievement for us. We try to make
people aware of tree plantation.”
