Tiger Reserves of India
Shining Example of Wildlife Conservation
India is known worldwide for its lush, dense
forests and the countless animals inhabiting
them. The forests in India are the natural
habitat of tigers, and to protect them, many
Tiger Reserves have been set up in the
country. Under 'Project Tiger,' which started
in 1973, there has been a significant increase
in the population of tigers. While there
were only 1,411 tigers in India in 2006, their
numbers increased to 3,167 in 2022.
