Bastar Olympics -
India will play, India will win!
In the 117th episode of 'Mann ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave
his heartiest congratulations to the winners of the Bastar Olympics. He
said, "...It is a matter of great joy for me that the dream of the Bastar
Olympics has come true. ...Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Football, Hockey,
Weightlifting, Karate, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball—our youth have
displayed their talent in every sport."
Bastar Olympics witnessed the players, disabled due to
Naxal violence, displaying excellent sports talent with their
strong determination. One such person is Punem Sanna of
Sukma district, once under the influence of Naxal violence
and later surrendered and came into the mainstream as
a constable, participating in a race in his wheelchair. Due
to Naxal violence, Sanna faced many ups and downs in
his personal life. But he did not let his resolve weaken, and
participated in the Bastar Olympics.

I felt pleased that the Honourable
Prime Minister mentioned me in
front of the whole world in 'Mann ki
Baat'. I was delighted. Due to a lack
of facilities, I could not participate
in archery after studies, but thanks
to the Bastar Olympics, I got my first
chance to take up archery again."
