Today, the appearance of rooftops across India's cities and
villages is changing. Where there once only empty terraces, now
blue and black solar panels are converting sunlight into electricity.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in 'Mann ki Baat' called this
transformation a “revolution.” The ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’
is not just a means to reduce electricity bills; it has become a
massive movement to turn ordinary citizens into ‘energy providers’
and ‘skilled entrepreneurs.’ This is the story of those technicians
and entrepreneurs who have made sunlight the foundation of their
livelihood and identity.
Payal Munjpara: From the paths of fields to the heights of
rooftops
The story of Payal Munjpara from Surendranagar district of Gujarat
is a vivid example of how the right training can transform a person’s
life. There was a time when Payal worked in the fields, but a three-
month training programme as a “Solar PV Technician-cum-Helper”
showed her a new path. Today, Payal has established herself as a
skilled solar technician and entrepreneur. Sharing her experiences of
struggle and success, Payal says:
