The manufacturing of the first
C-295 transport aircraft in India by Tata
Advanced Systems marks a significant
milestone in the country's aerospace
journey. It marks the emergence of
India's first private-sector military
aircraft manufacturing capability, with
advanced military aircraft now being
built in the country by Indian industry, for
the Union Ministry of Defence (MoD) and
the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The C-295 programme is one of the
most significant milestones in India's
vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence
manufacturing. Under the contract
Banmali Agrawala signed between the Ministry of Defence
Chairman and Airbus Defence and Space of Spain
Tata Advanced Systems in 2021, the Indian Air Force will receive 56

been delivered in fly-away condition
