Strengthening its Roots Across Borders

Just imagine that you are in some other country about thousands
of miles away from India, but you get a feel of being in your own house
simply because of the environment and cultural scenario there. The
Indian community residing in Malaysia is actually creating this magic.
Besides paving their way to progress, they are doing every bit to preserve
their cultural heritage. 'Malaysia-India Heritage Society' has emerged
as a strong pillar of support in this cause. Mr. Prabhakaran Nair is the
Founder President of the society. Mr. Nair believes that preserving our
heritage does not simply mean to relive the past but this, in fact, is effort
to develop a deep intellectual connection between two countries.
Spiritual Heritage of Mankind
The Society was not set up merely with the objective of organising
cultural programmes but there was a more serious thought behind this
endeavour. According to Mr. Prabhakaran Nair, his initial aim was to get
a new class created at UNESCO under the name 'Spiritual Heritage of
Mankind'. Talking about his motivation, he tells:
“In the beginning, our main objective was to advocate for a new
