farmers, through Sarvadodaram
Organics are cultivating more
than 570 varieties of rice in a
single field. These include local
varieties, herbal varieties, as well
as varieties brought from other
states and even other countries.
Leading this remarkable
initiative, Hrishikesh, the
President of Sarvadodaram
Organics, has to say this about
his initiative:
“We began collecting seeds
out of our personal interest.
In the beginning, we had 124
varieties. With the support of
people associated with the field
of agriculture, we gradually
collected seeds from across
India and even from abroad,
and now we have reached 570
varieties. We do not keep these
seeds limited to ourselves; we
also give them to other farmers
for cultivation and for the
exchange of seeds.”
