Spotlight on North East's Transformational Journey
My dear countrymen, just a Northeast India dances to its
couple of days ago, I went unique rhythm - a living mosaic
to the first Rising North East of tribal traditions, whispered
Summit. Before that, we also
folktales, and landscapes that
celebrated the 'Ashtalakshmi
steal your breath. This isn't
Mahotsav' dedicated to the
strength of the North East. just a region, but eight distinct
The North East is something worlds woven together: Assam's
extraordinary; its strength, its monsoon-kissed tea gardens,
talent, is really amazing.
Mizoram's blue-green hills rolling
like ocean waves, Manipur's
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi
(in 'Mann ki Baat' address) shimmering lakes mirroring
ancient martial arts, Nagaland's
warrior dances shaking
the festival grounds. Here,
grandmothers still sing creation
epics while young artists remix
them into street murals. The air
thrums with bamboo xylophones
and electric guitars, with the
scent of smoked bamboo shoots
and fresh betel nut.
New Delhi recently hosted
two landmark events that
perfectly encapsulated
India's dual commitment to
cultural preservation and
economic transformation –
the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav
(December 6-8, 2024) and
the Rising North East Investors
Summit (May 23-24, 2025). These
back-to-back celebrations
