managing this vast collection:

invaluable primary sources that provide
insights into governance systems,
economic structures, and society.
Technology is playing a transformative
role in preserving these rare
manuscripts. It enables systematic data
management of over 2 lakh manuscripts
and provides easy access to researchers
without causing any damage to the original documents.”
The Digital Avatar of the rare ‘Tai’ Script of Northeast India
Chao Nantisindh Lokang from Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh, has
taken up the responsibility of preserving rare manuscripts written in the
‘Tai’ script. This script is truly unique within India’s
cultural landscape.
Speaking about this initiative and the
involvement of the younger generation,
he said:
“The Tai language and its
manuscripts are extremely precious and
rare. It is very important to uncover this
knowledge hidden in the boxes of the
older generation and digitise it. Today’s
younger generation has grown up in the
technological age and, in such a scenario, the
